VIRGINIA BEACH--A man says all he wanted, was to buy an Iphone advertised on Craigslist, but says he got robbed instead. He met up with the seller, a 17 year old girl, on Newtown Road in Virginia Beach Tuesday night. Police say she pulled out a gun, snatched the victim's cash and ran off.
But the suspect left some obvious clues for police. Before she met up with the victim, she emailed him a picture of herself. The victim also had her cell phone number because the two were texting back and forth to negotiate a price for the Iphone.
The teen has been arrested and is being held at the Virginia BeachJuvenile Detention Center without bond. However police are still looking for the man she was with. They ask anyone with information to call the Crimeline.
The victim says he will continue to sell and buy things on Craigslist but will be extra careful from now on. Police advice people to avoid meeting up with strangers throughCraigslist. If you must, police say don't go alone, and always meet during the day in a busy, public place.
