VIRGINIA BEACH -- A man accused of setting up a drug deal that ended with the murder of a Va. Beach police officer goes on trial Tuesday.
Jury selection continued into the afternoon for Marshall Moyd, accused of first-degree murder, robbery and other charges.
Authorities say Det. Michael Phillips went undercover on August 7, 2008 to buy marijuana from Moyd at Green Run Square Shopping Center.
Investigators say Moyd left after meeting with Phillips and met up with Ted Carter, who went to the shopping center and opened fire.
Carter was convicted of capital murder and given a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
'Carter has been subpoenaedm but I am not sure whether either side will call him' Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen told WVEC.com.
The trial could last between one and two weeks, Pridgen added.
