Lady Crabbers repeat title hopes come to a tough end against Woodgrove

Hampton had a late rally in the 4th quarter fall short as they lost to Woodgrove 68-58 in the Class 4 girls finals on Friday from VCU's Siegel Center.

RICHMOND, Va. — A week ago, the Hampton Lady Crabbers rallied from 15 points down to top Monacan in the state semifinals. On Friday in the Class 4 girls state finals, they trailed by 14 to Woodgrove, but in this case a different ending.

Despite 19 points and 17 rebounds from Kaliya Perry, the Lady Crabbers quest for back to back championships fell short as they lost to the Wolverines 68-58 from VCU's Siegel Center.

"The whole game we're just waiting for the moment we take off", says head coach Shanda Bailey. "It just never seemed to happen".

Hampton (23-4) was hoping to capture back to back titles and its third in a four year span. Instead, they suffered their first loss in five trips to the finals.
