ODU leading scorer Vasean Allette dismissed from team

The school released a statement Sunday afternoon indicating the reason is due to "misconduct unbecoming of a Monarch."

NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion's leading scorer Vasean Allette was dismissed from the team, the school announced in a statement released Sunday afternoon for "conduct unbecoming of a Monarch."

Prior to this, Allette did not play in the Monarchs game Saturday night against Georgia Southern for the same reasons.

The school's announcement is as follows:

"Old Dominion men's basketball interim head coach Kieran Donohue announced on Sunday that freshman guard Vasean Allette has been dismissed from the team for conduct unbecoming of a Monarch. ODU will have no further comment at this time."

Allette, a transfer from Toronto, quickly made an impact becoming both ODU's leading scorer and the second leading scorer in the Sun Belt Conference.

This news comes among a tumultuous time for the Monarchs who are playing with interim head coach Kiernan Donohue as head coach Jeff Jones recently stepped away to begin prostate cancer treatment. ODU has lost nine of its last ten games.
