Virginia Wesleyan makes their pitch for three-peat

The two-time defending national softball champs are (40-4) and start the NCAA playoffs on Friday.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Wesleyan softball is the two-time defending national champs in Division III and they might be even deeper in talent this year.

The Marlins are (40-4) and open up the NCAA playoffs this Friday at home. They are led, once again, by national player of the year Hanna Hull. She has been nearly untouchable on the mound. As a matter of fact, she has tossed 4 no-hitters this season on the way to a (27-2) record.

Given what happened the last two years, expectations are high but Hull makes it sound like they're good with that, "It's pressure on all of us. Like coach Elliott says, we're definitely a target just because we won it last year. We won it the year before, so there is always a target. There are always teams coming after us. So, we have that pressure, but I think that we handle that really well."
