Coming together for support: Beacon of Hope 5K

The 5K run and 1-mile Memory Walk is meant to provide information about resources that are available for people who are in crisis and give fellowship to those who have lost friends and family members.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- This weekend, you can help support people who have lost someone to suicide at the "Beacon of Hope" 5K and 1-mile Memory Walk.

The annual event from the nonprofit I Need a Lighthouse is in its 13th year. It is meant to provide information about resources that are available for people who are in crisis and give fellowship to those who have lost friends and family members.

The Beacon of Hope 5K will be held May 20, 2018, with the 5K beginning at 9 a.m. and the Memory Walk at 9:15 at 24th Street Park at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
