Second person charged in connection to William & Mary football player's murder

Norfolk police said they arrested Jerry Spady on a gun charge related to the killing of Tribe running back Nate Evans. Spady is the second person charged in the case.

NORFOLK, Va. — Police arrested a second person whom they say is connected to the murder of Nate Evans who was a student and football player at the College of William & Mary.

Officers took Jerry Collins Spady, 22, into custody on March 22. He faces a charge of Possession of a Concealed Weapon. Spady lives in the 3700 block of Towne Point Road in Portsmouth. 

Detectives haven't said how the charge relates to the case, and Spady is currently out on bond.

On March 21, Norfolk police found Evans shot on the sidewalk at West 43rd Street and Colley Avenue around 11:50 p.m. Evans, 19, was a sophomore at William & Mary and a running back for the Tribe.

On March 25, Norfolk officers arrested 20-year-old Kri’Shawn D. Beamon, from the 3500 block of Coleshill Lane in Chesapeake. Beamon is facing charges of Second-degree murder, Robbery, and two counts of Using a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

Court documents said that Evans was on West 43rd Street to conduct a drug transaction with Beamon.
