Man dies after shooting on Remsen Street in Norfolk; suspect later found dead

The police department said it got a report of a shooting in the 7200 block of Remsen Street around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday night, not far from Granby High School.

NORFOLK, Va. — A man who was shot in a home near Granby High School on Tuesday night has died, Norfolk Police said.

The police department said they were called to the 7200 block of Remsen Street around 10:20 p.m. for a reported shooting. Officers arrived to find 24-year-old Frankie D. Bland suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Bland was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators charged the victim's brother, 27-year-old Taquan D. Harper of Portsmouth, with second-degree murder and use of a firearm.

Police said Harper was found dead on January 20 in Hampton, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
