6 children, 3 adults displaced after Chesapeake house fire, officials say

The Chesapeake Fire Department says they received a call reporting a fire Tuesday around 8:30 a.m. Chesapeake firefighters arrived a few minutes later.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Nine people have been displaced from their home after a fire in Chesapeake Tuesday morning, officials said.

The Chesapeake Fire Department said they received a call reporting the fire in the 2500 block of Border Road around 8:30 a.m. Chesapeake firefighters, along with units from Norfolk, arrived at the home minutes later.

Crews saw heavy smoke coming from the home. Residents and pets got out before crews arrived on the scene.

Firefighters stretched hose lines in the home to find and extinguish the flames. The fire was contained to the kitchen and marked under control at 9:11 a.m.

Six children, three adults and three pets have been displaced due to fire, smoke and water damage. The Red Cross is assisting the family. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
