Dierks Bentley, Colbie Caillat coming to Naval Station Norfolk for free concert

Saturday's concert is open for individuals with base access and their escorted guests.

NORFOLK, Va. — Service members will get the chance to see country music star Dierks Bentley and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat perform at Naval Station Norfolk this coming weekend.

Individuals with base access and their escorted guests can attend the free concert on Saturday. Performances are expected to begin at 7 p.m. but gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

"I am extremely excited!" said NSN Commanding Officer Janet Days. "I'm excited because we have the opportunity to host an A-list entertainer. You know, him and his team -- Dierks Bentley and Colbie Caillat -- coming here to perform for our men and women and their families and our government civilians, you know, it's awesome."

This concert is part of the entertainment program Operation Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). It aims to improve the quality of life and well-being of Sailors, veterans, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and families.

"This resiliency initiative is designed to celebrate and support the continuous commitment of the Navy community. The program’s slogan, 'We've Got Your Six,' represents the Navy’s commitment to their well-being and readiness," a news release stated.

From May to June, Operation MWR has more than 65 events planned at Navy bases spanning the U.S. and overseas.
