VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach is back open in both directions, hours after being shut down due to a fatal motorcycle crash.

Virginia Beach Police say the accident happened in the 1500 block of Princess Anne Road some time before 6:30 p.m. A motorcyclist was killed in the single-vehicle crash.

Wednesday morning, the police department said the person who died was a 22-year-old Virginia Beach man, Mitchell Lee Abrams.

A release from police said Abrams apparently lost control of the motorcycle while going around a curve, and after it ran off the road, he was ejected.

Investigators think excessive speed could have played a part in the accident.

The road was closed in both directions as police investigated the accident scene. Officials said Princess Anne Road reopened around 10 p.m.

No one else was involved in the accident, which remains under investigation at this time.
