Former NFL player Darren Woodson visits local Make-A-Wish kid

A local Make-A-Wish kid had the opportunity to sit down with Former Dallas Cowboys Safety Darren Woodson to talk about what Make-A-Wish means to them.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Former Dallas Cowboys Safety, current ESPN Analyst Darren Woodson met with a local Make-A-Wish kid on Monday.

Gideon Thompson, the Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia “Wish Kid," met with with the longtime NFL player to share stories about what exactly Make-A-Wish means to them.

In April 2014, Gideon was diagnosed with stage 4 nodular desmoplastic medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. The little guy had five different surgeries, including three brain surgeries. He was granted his Wish a year later to visit Disney World.

Woodson has been involved with Make-A-Wish since '94. He said the organization is so special because of the kids and how they want to include others into their wish.

During their visit, Gideon had the chance to wear Woodson's Super Bowl rings and play cornhole!

Woodson is in Virginia Beach as a keynote speaker at the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia’s Annual Conference, which is being held at the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront June 23-25.

IIAV and its national parent organization, Trusted Choice, share longtime connections with Make-A-Wish on both the local and national level.
