NORFOLK, Va. — Election Day 2023 is coming up in Virginia, when voters will decide the candidates they want to represent them in the state legislature.

The Nov. 7 election marks the first time since 2019 that all 140 seats in the Virginia General Assembly will be on the ballot. 100 of them are in the Republican-controlled House of Delegates, and 40 are in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

Because it's the first General Assembly election under newly drawn electoral maps, many Virginians may be asking, "Which district do I live in?"

Luckily, there are two options to find out for both House and Senate districts.

First, the Virginia General Assembly's "Who's My Legislator?" tool allows people to search for their representatives by address. Just type the address in and the tool will show the state delegate, state senator and other elected officials.

Under the listing for state delegate and senator, there's an option entitled "New in 2024," which shows the new district number for the address, as well as a map showing the new district boundaries.

The second option is the Virginia Department of Elections' registered voter portal, which shows district numbers for the Virginia House and Senate based on the address affiliated with a voter's registration. The portal also shows which precinct a person lives in, as well as designated polling places.

After finding your district, 13News Now has a list of sample ballots broken down by city or county showing which races and candidates will appear on your ballot.
