Man dead, woman injured in domestic-related shooting in Norfolk; arrest made

Police arrested a suspect after domestic-related, double shooting ended with one man dead and a woman seriously injured in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Virginia — Norfolk police are working to learn the moments that led up to a deadly domestic disturbance where one man was shot to death and a woman suffered serious injuries late Monday night.

Police said Tuesday morning that they were called to the 600 block of Mariners Way to respond to a domestic-related, double shooting just after 11:45 p.m. on Monday.

They found one man dead at the scene and a woman who sustained life-threatening injuries. Detectives said 18-year-old Rasaun Davidson of the 400 block of Fort Worth Avenue in Norfolk was the person who was shot and killed.

The female victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

After investigating, officers arrested and charged 56-year-old George Antonio Boyd with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and malicious wounding.

Boyd is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this deadly incident and ask anyone with information to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Neighbor Tione Carter said, “When it’s right here in front of your face it’s always a shock.”

Carter said that he wants people in the community to live peacefully.

"I would just really hope that we could like die down on all of this violence because a lot of it is senseless a lot of times," Carter said. "It really just sucks knowing that people can’t just get along.”
