Virtual museum tours to pass the time at home

There are many different options if you want to stay entertained during your coronavirus quarantine

NORFOLK, Va. — Many of us are still in the early stages of isolation during the coronavirus pandemic.

Safety is paramount, but staying entertained while cooped up at home could become difficult when we’re looking at a weeks-long quarantine. Binging streaming TV and movies will certainly do the trick… for a while.

There is always reading books and walking outside if you’re looking for something a little healthier for the mind and body. Spring cleaning is a responsible option, as well.

But what if you’re looking for something a little more creative?

Here are two good options:

  • The Google Arts and Culture app on your smartphone or tablet. You can take free, virtual tours of museums all around the world without leaving the couch. Some of your options include the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, South Korea, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, and even the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk.
  • Learn a new language. You can also do this for free through the company Duolingo. What’s great about this is that you can select why you want to learn a particular language, and how much time you want to invest into lessons every day. They are essentially tailoring language lessons around your schedule.
