Norfolk Tides are being sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings, expected to stay in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk Tides, just hot off their recent championship wins, is being sold to Diamond Baseball Holdings, but won't be moving from their current stadium.

In a press release from Minor League Baseball, the Tides announced that they are being sold to a new owner Diamond Baseball Holdings. They say that the current owner Ken Young will remain involved with the club an advisory capacity.

"The Tides are stronger than we’ve ever been, and it feels like the right time to pass the baton to Pat, Peter, and the DBH team to carry forward the rich history of professional baseball in Norfolk,” said Ken Young, President of the Norfolk Tides.

Other staff members that helped make the Tides who they are also expected to stay where they are.

Joe Gregory, General Manager of the Norfolk Tides, said: “Tides fans really are outstanding, and we are committed to further deepening our relationship with the Norfolk community with DBH’s support.”

“We are thrilled to add this iconic Triple-A franchise to the DBH family and immensely appreciative to be entrusted with continuing Ken’s notable legacy in Norfolk,” said Pat Battle and Peter Freund, Executive Chairman and CEO, respectively, of DBH. “We are very enthusiastic about the Tides future, the incredible staff that is already in place and the continued partnership with the Orioles in the Norfolk community.”
