Watches, warnings expire for Hampton Roads

The last warning expired at 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

NORFOLK, Va. — A number of other weather advisories were in effect across Hampton Roads and parts of North Carolina on Friday afternoon and evening, including a Flood Warning and Tornado Watch.

The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning until 12:30 a.m. Saturday for the following areas: 

  • City of Suffolk
  • Isle of Wight County
  • City of Franklin
  • Gates County
  • Chowan County
  • Perquimans County
  • Southampton County (Virginia)

An earlier Flash Flood Warning expired at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

A Tornado Watch also expired at 10 p.m., which had warned of wind gusts that could reach up to 70 mph across Hampton Roads and the Outer Banks, with a few tornadoes possible.

A Tornado Warning that was in place for Camden, Currituck, and Pasquotank counties expired at 6:15 p.m.

A tornado watch means that tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area and that you should be prepared to take shelter in the event a warning is issued.

There is also a High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory in effect for much of the region.
