VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach woman who police say admitted to killing her husband appeared in court on Thursday.

Christina Wang's attorney, Roger Whitus, said she struggles with her mental health and "snapped" on July 15.

A Virginia Beach detective took the stand Thursday, saying Christina admitted to investigators she killed her husband, Calvin Wang, an active-duty sailor.

According to testimony from the detective, Christina and Calvin Wang spent much of their divorce proceedings arguing.

Prosecutors said the couple separated in 2022 after Christina had an affair. The two have a 6-year-old son together.

Viewers sent 13News Now screenshots of Facebook posts written by Christina Wang. She wrote them on a local private group called “Are We Dating the Same Guy?”

In the posts written, she attached a photo of Calvin’s dating app profile and alerted other women he’s married.

The night before Christina allegedly shot Calvin, an argument happened and things got heated.

Whitus said she went back to Calvin’s home the next day with food as a “peace offering,” but the two began arguing again about Calvin using a dating app.

Christina admitted to slapping Calvin and knocking his glasses off before Calvin told her to get out.

That’s when the detective said Christina told her she shot him in the stomach. Once Calvin fell to the ground wincing in pain, Christina allegedly she shot him in the head.

Christina’s attorney said Christina suffers from depression and anxiety and intended to end her own life after killing Calvin. Whitus confirmed with the detective on the stand that Christina told her she “snapped” that night.

The detective also said Christina called police about a year before the shooting regarding an "incident," and bought the gun after that. They did not elaborate further on the "incident."

Regarding this shooting, court documents allege a camera inside Calvin’s home caught the whole thing.

While Christina allegedly killed her husband on July 15, investigators arrested her two days later when she turned herself in and police found his body.

Documents said Calvin’s co-worker came to his home looking for him after he didn't show up for work but found Christina there instead. The co-worker said Christina admitted to shooting her husband and wanted to turn herself in.

Christina's attorney told media after Thursday’s hearing he “recognizes the tragic circumstances” of the case.

She is due back in court on February 28. She will remain in the Virginia Beach jail without bond.
